When Dad Babysits

Kelsey told me I can’t refer to watching my own children as babysitting. Regardless, I’m babysitting for the rest of this week. I dropped Kelsey off at the airport for a much needed get-away. The real babysitting starts when GolferMD IV comes next month. My kids have been excited for this week (I think); actually I have too. (Very impressive use of a semicolon). Things may be a little different this week when Dad babysits.

Overqualified

In reality I should not be calling myself a babysitter. It undermines my resume. They say babysitters should be qualified in CPR. I highly doubt any of our babysitters have done it as much as I have. Anaphylaxis? Yep, I know about that too. A few bumps and bruises this week should’t be too big of a deal. I have plenty of suture kits available just in case a more serious accident comes my way.

Dirty diapers? I may have to hire another babysitter to come take care of that one while Kelsey’s gone. I have more important things that I’ve got to oversee.

Bailey will have to learn to change her own diapers this week

Food

Three months ago we probably would have been eating out for every meal during Kelsey’s absence. Kids love a babysitter who takes them out to eat. Due to a recent health binge I’ve been on I don’t know if we will be taking “too many” trips to Mickey D’s. Pros of McDonald’s: cheap, quick, my kids will eat it, don’t have to do any dishes. Hmm…I need to rethink my strategy on this one.

Zips is a more classy establishment than McDonald’s.

Golf

I was hoping for a few trips to the golf course this week. Probably won’t happen. Brody has like 5 bajilion practices and games this week. I think the kids’ activities will take the Golfer out of GolferMD for a few days.

Movies

Anderson is more excited about me babysitting than anyone else. I told him that he gets to watch Jurassic Park when Mom leaves. I remember having nightmares about that movie. I was 10 years old when it came out. My oldest boy is 7. Hopefully Mom will be home before the nightmares start.

Early Bed Times

Everybody loves a babysitter who puts their kids to bed. I will gain very high marks in this category. I will definitely be implementing a strict bedtime so that the parents can rest peacefully.

When Mom Comes Home

Our kids are always perfect angels like this on Sunday morning.

Kelsey doesn’t consider herself a babysitter. She doesn’t have the CPR training required for the job I don’t think. I don’t consider myself the perfect babysitter, but I work in a pinch. The kids are least excited for the last minute rush to clean up the house on Sunday morning. We have to give the appearance of perfect order and zero chaos.

Picking Mom up at the airport on Sunday afternoon will be a welcome treat. Nobody is more excited than the babysitter for that special moment…when Mom comes home.

About Me

I’m a husband, dad, golfer, babysitter, and doctor navigating my way through life. I‘ve tried to make millions with GolferMD.com but have spent thousands instead. I want to be known as more than just a golfer, but some days a golfer is all I want to be.
