Pumpkin Ridge Golf Course
After two rounds of golf near the Oregon Coast I told Kelsey “No more business on this trip,” She rebutted, arguing for the welfare of the patrons of GolferMD.com who wouldn’t get a minute by minute update of a very amateur physician golfer. (Some may think it is bold to call the readers of this blog patrons, as if this were Augusta National) “My family is more important than my patrons,” I reminded her. Satisfied with my decision I locked my clubs in the trunk. Fortunately I played at Pumpkin Ridge before business closed for the week. (The above events are accurate as far as I can recall)
Tiger @ Pumpkin Ridge
Located 30 minutes outside of Portland, Pumpkin Ridge is notably famous for being the course where Tiger Woods won his 3rd US Amateur title.
Pumpkin Ridge: Ghost Creek and Witch Hollow
Pumpkin Ridge has two courses: A private course called Witch Hollow and a public course for mere commoners like myself: Ghost Creek. Despite being a course for commoners there is nothing common about it. Ghost Creek is a perfect blend of challenging and intriguing. Many people I have talked to say it is the better of the two courses. Some day I will let you know if that’s true.
I was playing with my Dad and my brother Levi.
I’ve never seen anyone reach for a mulligan quicker than my brother Levi.
The Course
I love playing a bucket list course. I didn’t know that this was a bucket list course until I played it. It is well deserving of a place on my top 20 list for now. The course was challenging. The rough was incredibly deep. A ball off the fairway definitely cost me an extra stroke. The greens were in fantastic shape. I’ll let pictures do most of the talking on this one.
My Round at Pumpkin Ridge
For the first time ever you can watch my entire round (exciting I know). The benefit of seeing every shot of mine is that you get a full course preview, not just the fairways and greens ?. Please do not count the number of putts that I had. Hopefully everyone likes a little Pearl Jam:
Pumpkin Ridge Review
This was a top notch course that is ranked in the Top 15 courses in Oregon. When you are competing with courses at Bandon Dunes and Pronghorn it is though to crack into the top 10. This course seems deserving of it though. This course has cracked my list of Bucket List Courses as well. Make the trip to play Pumpkin Ridge. It is worth your time.

I am enjoying your blog which I found after seeing your intro to the celebrity golf match on TV. I interviewed you here in Spokane after you finished residency (same place I went). I share your passion if not your skill for golf (HCP 14). I’ve been to Bandon twice including last month. Sheep Ranch displaced Bandon Dunes at the top of my favorite Bandon courses (followed by Pacific, Old Mac and Trails). Check out The Preserve in Oregon some time. Just returned from the UP in MI where I golfed Greywalls in Marquette and Sweetwater in Harris, both fun courses. I hope you have made it to Circling Raven. I like it better than CDA. keep up the good work.

Thanks for the heads up about Circling Raven! I have never played it but have heard from many people that it is a great track. I have never played in the UP of Michigan but did play Arcadia Bluffs which was unreal. I am constantly intrigued by everyone’s rankings of the Bandon Courses. I am very excited to play Sheep Ranch next year!
