Golf Giveaway and Top Health Care Golfers

To celebrate #TheMatch I have some great golf gear that I’m giving away including some of my favorite golf balls (the $50 per dozen type, not a sleeve of Pinnacles), golf shirts, golf accessories, and other GolferMD paraphonelia. I will be sending these out to random golf fans who subscribe to the blog or share this post on social media. Also, are you a top health care golfer? I’m making a list of the top health care golfers by handicap. You can see if you rank in the top 100 in your profession.

Top Physician Golfer

In med school one day I took a break from studying and googled “Who are the top 100 physician golfers in the US?” Surprisingly an article had been published in Golf Digest in 2007 which listed the top 100 MD/DO golfers. At the time, in 2008, I would have ranked 98th on the list. I have been as high as 19th on the list with a USGA handicap of 1.2. Currently I would be 42nd on the list with a handicap of 2.8. I highly doubt this list is completely accurate. Having said that I was the best golfer in my med school class, the best in residency, and am currently the best physician golfer at the two hospitals I work at. Am I really in the top 100? Seems unlikely, but going off the data available I’m going to stick with my ranking of 42 for now.

Top Health Care Golfer

There are nurses, doctors, physician assistants, dentists, optometrists, pharmacists, paramedics, and many other health care providers in the United States that are elite golfers. I doubt I belong in the list of top 100 of health care workers, but my goal is to make it to the top of that list. Are you a top health care golfer?

Big fan of what you’re doing! Current medical student and can relate your journey a lot to what I’m currently going through. Step 1 studying got my handicap a little high… 7.7

Look forward to more from this blog!

    30.0 handicap.

    Nurse

3x cancer survivor, battled my way back after 20 surgeries 2 rounds of chemotherapy and 1 round of radiation.
Have done Sports Med Rehab for about 20 years to rehab back to a functional place.
The past couple of years I have done intense rehab with Spine injections and Sports Med Rehab @ UW in Madison Wisconsin, where I work as a nurse and teach nursing.
Returned to competitive golf after a 25 year hiatus, only to play in my first city and senior tournament….finishing last. I am proud of where I stand in the Wisconsin Women’s rankings and am battling back.

I was part of a state-runner up high school girls team in Kentucky. Went to Rutgers to play D1 on their women’s golf team. The rest, is academic with a slow transition from being a student athlete to a hard working nurse working with a team of neurosurgeons.
