GolferMD- State of the Blog

My brother Levi congratulated me recently on my mommy blog. He has never read any of my posts but says that he hears about them from his wife’s friends. He was curious who was more embarrassed of the blog, me or him. I told him I was. I mentally push through the embarrassment of hitting publish on each blog post. Worse than publishing it to the internet is posting it on Facebook where people I know can read it. After last night’s speech I figured I better post about GolferMD and the state of the blog.

Most of my readers after reading my posts.

Family Readers

My sister Ashley offered me advice for my blog last month…don’t do giveaways. She was embarrassed that I was doing a giveaway on my blog. She thought it was corny and undignified. I asked if she had read the blogpost that explained the giveaway. She hadn’t. I laughed.

Kelsey is more supportive than a spouse should be of a corny and undignified blog. I appreciate her for that. For Christmas she had a t-shirt made with my blog logo on it. It was the best Christmas present she has ever given me. My boys got shirts too.

Child exploitation? Not when they are this excited to promote your brand.

My brother Brad’s soon to be bride Emma said one of the posts she read was amazing. I knew Brad had good taste.

My Mom sent me a text last week about my Kobe Bryant article. I really appreciated Mom’s text.

Wrote a blog post while working in the ER? Sounds like a cush job.

Writing- From Worst to First

There is no class I hated worse in school then English. I went to medical school to avoid writing essays. I only had to write one essay during the entire four years. My paper was titled “Death on the Golf Course.”

In reality if nobody read my blog it would be fine with me. One thing I’ve learned is that writing is very enjoyable to me. I actually consider it a new hobby.

Making Mad Money while Blogging

Like most newspapers and magazines my blog is strapped for cash. Steve McPhee wanted royalties from me for posting about him last week. I told him I would split all of the money I made from advertising in January.

Steve’s take. The rest goes to my boys.

I still don’t know why I blog. Someday I’ll just stop. For now the money keeps me going.
